Grigor Dimitrov produced an outstanding performance to dismantle Belgian David Goffin and secure his place in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Championships at the O2 Arena, thrashing the Belgian 6-0, 6-2.
The sixth seed made it two wins from two in the Pete Sampras Group after beating Dominic Thiem in his opening match to seal his place in the last four. He could end up facing Roger Federer, who has come through tough challenges against Jack Sock and Alex Zverev.
Goffin had come into the match full of confidence after his victory over world number one Rafael Nadal in the opening match, even though the French and US Open winner had pulled out of the rest of the tournament with a knee injury after the match. However, he had no answer to a brilliant display from Dimitrov.
While the Bulgarian has not yet become the Grand Slam winner many expected, fans booking corporate hospitality for the 2018 Aegon Championships will be well aware he has often brought his best form to London, winning the title at the Queen's Club in 2014.
Speaking about the match, Dimitrov said: "You have days like that, you work for those days. It is nice when it comes in such an occasion, I am humbled to win that match.
"My goal was to reach the weekend, every match is very important to me. I am not here just to participate.
"My movement was great, I was reading the game really well and believing in my shots. The next thing you know the match is over. I felt I could have played more."
Goffin still has a chance to make the semi-finals, as he faces Thiem in the final match to decide which of them makes the last four. Thiem responded to losing his match against Dimitrov by winning 6-3 3-6 6-4 against Pablo Carreno Busta, who came in as a replacement for Nadal.
In the Boris Becker Group, Zverev and Sock will face each other for the right to join Federer in the semi-finals, with both having beaten Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic.
