Last Thursday we ventured along to the new NFL UK London offices for a preview of what is to come this October at Twickenham Stadium. Guests were able to enjoy canapés and drinks as they chatted predictions and expectations for the season ahead, while revealing who they were most excited to see in London.
Neil Raynolds of Sky Sports and New York Giants legend Osi Umenyiora hosted the star studded evening where we were treated to numerous interviews, a Q&A session and the opportunity to mingle with the stars themselves. These included the likes of Pro Bowl punter Johnny Hekker from the Los Angeles Rams; offensive lineman Joel Bitonio, a second-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns; Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefan Diggs; defensive back Tyrann Mathieu or more commonly known as ‘the Honey Badger’, from the Arizona Cardinals; Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Brandon Williams; Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills; and English-born defensive end Alex Jenkins of the New Orleans Saints.
During the night the players gave insights into their lives, as well as what they are looking forward to in October when they come to London. Alex Jenkins revealed within a space of a year he went from being a petrol pump worker to being picked in the NFL Draft. While, 350 pound Brandon Williams, revealed on his rest days he will consume a whopping 8,000 calories just to stay the size he is.
The NFL London games comes to the UK in October and Twickenham will see the Arizona Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday 22 October and the Minnesota Vikings V Cleveland Browns on Sunday 29 October.
