The north London derby is always a huge game, but this year it could be bigger than ever as both Arsenal and Spurs are challenging for the Premier League title.
Arsenal are level at the top of the table with Manchester City on 23 points, with Spurs in fifth place on 20. In what could be the closest title race in decades, big games like the north London derby could have a key bearing on the final outcome.
The form book just about favours Arsenal, who are unbeaten since their opening day defeat against Liverpool. Apart from the disappointment of a goalless stalemate at home to Middlesbrough, almost everything has gone well since then, as Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil and even the oft-criticised Olivier Giroud have been banging in the goals. Last week was a case in point, as the Gunners avoided the potential embarrassment of dropped points against Sunderland when Giroud came off the bench with the score at 1-1 to grab a swift brace, paving the way for an ultimately easy 4-1 win.
If Arsenal are the irresistible force just now, Spurs have been an immovable object. They have conceded only five goals in the Premier League so far and enjoyed one of the most notable victories of the season when defeating Manchester City 2-0. However, instead of kicking on, they have been frustrated by a trio of draws and have now recorded five wins and five draws from their opening ten matches.
The absence of Harry Kane with injury is a key issue for the visitors as they struggle to score goals, with just 14 in the league so far compared to Arsenal's 23. It was the England striker who scored Spurs' goal in the 1-1 draw at the Emirates last season, and his absence could be critical.
For fans booking corporate hospitality for the Emirates Stadium, this could be the most exciting of seasons as Arsene Wenger's men seek to go one better than last season's second place.
Beating their closest rivals will certainly be a great start, and will swiftly put an end to any hopes harboured in Tottenham that they might somehow emulate the unbeaten season of Arsenal's 2003-04 team.
